Studying in New York is appealing on its own.
However, now that the city has its first career school that offers an accredited dialysis training program, enrolling will get you one step closer to becoming a New York City dialysis technician.
You will learn anatomy and physiology, chronic dialysis therapy issues and concerns, and everything in between.
But one important thing to note is that New York does not have a license, certification, or exam that you need to take to begin working as a dialysis technician.
After you receive your diploma from the institute, you are free to begin working at any healthcare facility.
However, you will need to pass a certification exam after you get employed. CCHT or CCNT must administer the exam, and you must take the test within 18 months of employment.

All the organizations and institutes I mentioned above do not offer online or hybrid training courses.
There are many reasons why you may not be able to attend classroom sessions.
However, we’re happy to report that there are multiple online and hybrid programs that you can enroll in and get qualified.
Here are a few schools that offer courses that you can complete online:
#1 Columbia Southern University
Columbia Southern University does provide an online training program for aspiring dialysis technicians. However, it is a part of the school’s online continuing education program.
You will be trained for four months, including the 375 contact hours. The training program is designed to cover all the necessary fundamentals for getting your certification in the future.

#2 University of Tennessee – Martin
UTM offers a self-paced online dialysis technician program, amongst other courses.
If you’re in the process of obtaining your high-school diploma or your GED or already have obtained it, you can enroll right away.
It is important to note that the university does not offer any externship or hands-on training, so you will need to pursue clinical training by other means.
Some universities also offer hybrid programs, and if you enroll in these, you will be able to complete the classroom portion of the program online.
However, you will need to engage in hands-on training after completing the theoretical part of the program.
