Depending on your chosen track, you could complete your nurse aide exam course in three weeks.

Keep in mind that you won’t know all you need to know about home health care in this short time.

It’s a good idea to supplement your training with additional medical assisting courses that will help patients.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to finish Texas Home Health Aide training?

You might finish it within three to six weeks.

However, you may want to find a home healthcare job.

Then, spend your education funds on a CNA class.

It will help you earn more and provide more advanced skills than you would as an HHA.

What are the similarities between CNA and HHA?

CNAs and HHAs may both help out with bathing, dressing, housekeeping, or cooking.

However, an HHA may be more likely to do the shopping for a client.

CNAs would be more likely to check the temperature, heart rate, blood pressure, and other vitals.

What’s the difference between a CNA and HHA?

A Certified Nursing Assistant usually has to serve multiple clients during a shift.

An HHA may work in a setting where they only focus on one person at a time.

They might, however, sometimes have more than one client a day or a week.

Does your HHA experience make you a nurse?

Securing a home health aide job can set you on the path to becoming a nurse.

You can decide if you want to earn more certificates or an associate degree.

If you want to fill an advanced registered nursing position, you would need four years or more of school.

Do you have to take an exam to become an HHA?

Texas HHS says there is no exam, registry, or certification for home health aides.

However, you do have to certify via exam for other roles, such as if you become a CNA or an LPN.
