Through Concorde’s Medical Assisting program students will learn the following:

• Scheduling and receiving patients
• Preparing and maintaining medical records
• Infection control
• Common diagnostic tests and sample preparation

Students of the Medical Assisting program may complete the diploma in as few as 8 months of study or the associate of science degree in as few as 16 months.

San Jacinto College offers the following programs in Medical Assisting:

• Health Science Medical Assisting Pathway, Associate of Applied Science Degree – 60 credit hours
• Medical Assisting, Certificate of Technology – 39 credit hours

The AAS degree will enable participating students to continue their education goals, transfer to a university health care administration or allied health program, and advance to higher-level positions.

For students who successfully complete the certificate program, they have the opportunity to sit for exams to earn CMA, RMA, and NCMA certifications.

The Medical Assisting program is 3-semesters long through which you will be prepared to work in settings such as physicians’ offices, hospitals, outpatient clinics, group practices, and other healthcare facilities.

Upon successful completion of the program, you are eligible to sit for the CMAA, CCMA, and CPT certification exams.

To attend clinicals you need to be at least 17 years old.
