Phlebotomy Certification Requirements for North Carolina
Even though there are four states in the USA that have strict requirements in terms of phlebotomy certification and do not allow graduates to legally work as a phlebotomist until they reach a license, North Carolina is not one of them.
It is not required to have your certification but we still suggest that you obtain it so as to get more chances in finding employment, as well as negotiate your salary.
The first requirement for certification is to pass a training course through an accredited organization and then sit for and pass a certification exam.

- American Society for Clinical Pathology, Training, or work experience, in combination with an oral or written exam, is obligatory for this license. Furthermore, a renewal every ten years through CEU is necessary as well.
- American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians, So as to get it, an applicant must pass a practical and written exam. Also, an annual CEUs is obligatory to maintain certification.
